Employee Spotlight: Pontus Hagberg

Today we're sharing an interview with one of our fantastic iOS developers, Pontus!

Name: Pontus Hagberg

Company Role: iOS Developer

What do you do at Perigee?

I'm developer for our iOS apps, working together with the team to implement new features and making sure our users have a great time by constantly improving the quality of our apps.

What’s your story?

I've always had a big interest in development, starting as a kid making web pages for me and my friends. After a detour studying behavioral sciences for a couple of years, I found my way back to the world of software and decided to study computer science. When I got my first job after university I started developing iOS apps and I really fell in love with it!

Now I have been working as an iOS developer for a couple of years in both Malmö and Stockholm. When I found out about Perigee it felt like such a great match, a small company with talented people where I can work on making great apps!

Your top 3 favorite podcasts/books?

I listen to a lot of podcasts so it's hard to choose! I generally like shows that find the balance of being both interesting and funny at the same time. A long-time favourite is the Swedish podcast 'God Morgon Världen' (Good Morning World) - it's a great Sunday morning summary about the latest weeks major events. Some other favourites would be the news podcast 'Stormens Utveckling' (The Progression of the Storm), 'Historiepodden' (The History Podcast) and 'Radio Lab'.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

Trying out new restaurants, going to concerts, going to pub quizzes, playing board games, slow mornings drinking coffee and anything like that! I'm also a bit of a news junkie, so I read a lot about what's going in the world and watch all the documentaries I can find!

What are you passionate about?

I'm really passionate about creating great user experiences that go the extra mile. I love to build simple and delightful apps that I want to use!

How do you think your colleagues would describe you?

I think they would describe me as very focused on what I do. And I hope they would also think of me as humble, as that is one of the qualities I find most important at the workplace.

What has been your favorite project at Perigee?

Wow, it's hard to say! I've worked at Perigee under a year but it feels like I have gotten to do so many different and exciting things!

One thing I worked on was implementing our new pregnancy feature in Cycles. I found it really interesting to learn everything I could about this very important part of people's lives, and trying to figure out how we can create the best support for them during that time.

What skill(s) have you developed while working at Perigee?

To focus on what's important and take responsibility for all parts of our apps! As we're a small team we all need to do a bit of everything, and not be constrained to our roles. That means being flexible to change and always being open to new ideas and perspectives.
